Kolkata, Sep 25: This Durga Puja, exploring Kolkata’s countless pandals is set to become easier and more engaging with the launch of durgapujakolkata.in, a digital platform bringing together pandal discovery, Pujo information, content, events and route planning in one place.
The platform has been developed by Pranay De and Amitava Datta, students of Techno Main Salt Lake, building on their successful work on a similar Jagaddhatri Puja portal for Chandannagar last year. The project has been supported by Meghdut Roychowdhury and the Make Calcutta Relevant Again team, who have worked with the students to take the platform live ahead of this year’s Puja.
More Than a Map: Building Kolkata’s Durga Puja Digital Ecosystem
At its heart, durgapujakolkata.in is designed as a one-stop solution for Pujo Parikrama.
Visitors can explore 700+ pandals, discover Puja destinations near them and plan their Parikrama based on how they want to travel—whether walking, using public transit or travelling by their own vehicle. The platform is designed to help users discover nearby pandals and generate shorter and faster routes, making it easier to plan an entire day of Puja exploration.
But the platform goes beyond navigation.
It brings together Pandal Listings, Nearby Pandal Discovery, Pujo Map, Photos & Videos, Pujor Gaan, Event Calendar, Pujo Guides and Pujo Chronicles, giving users a single destination to discover not just where to go, but also what is happening there.
From finding a new pandal nearby and checking its photographs, to discovering events, reading about a Puja or finding out what is happening at a particular pandal, the platform aims to become a digital starting point for the complete Pujo experience.
Puja Committees Become Part of the Platform
A key aspect of durgapujakolkata.in is that the platform is not intended to remain a static directory.
Puja committees will be able to claim their pre-loaded pandal listings and take an active role in maintaining their digital presence. Once claimed, committees can update their Puja information, upload photographs, share announcements, publish events and communicate news and happenings from their respective Puja.
Committees can also add their Puja to the platform, allowing the map and database to grow organically with participation from the Puja community.
This creates a living Kolkata Durga Puja digital ecosystem, where visitors discover and explore Pujas while the committees themselves contribute the information, stories, images and updates that make each Puja unique.
From “Where Do I Go?” to “What’s Happening There?”
Where should I go? Find nearby pandals.
How do I get there? Plan your route.
What else can I explore? Discover more Pujas around you.
What’s happening there? Check updates and events.
What does the pandal look like? Explore photographs and videos.
Want to discover something new? Explore the city through its Puja.
In doing so, durgapujakolkata.in seeks to connect two sides of the Puja experience—the people who go out to explore Kolkata and the communities that create its Durga Puja.
A Student-Led Project with a Larger City Vision
The project reflects the growing role of students and young creators in building technology-led solutions around Kolkata’s cultural ecosystem.
Pranay De and Amitava Datta, students of Techno Main Salt Lake, have taken the lead in developing the platform, building on their previous experience with the Chandannagar Jagaddhatri Puja portal.
The initiative has been supported by the MCRA team, with Meghdut Roychowdhury providing leadership and Shilaz Dutta, Sanstitha Biswas, Sayan Choudhury, Titas Bhattacharyya and Medha Mallick contributing across communication, content, outreach, community engagement and execution.
The project brings together student innovation, technology, community participation and Kolkata’s cultural identity to create a platform that can evolve with the Puja itself.
A Digital Starting Point for Pujo
With Durga Puja being one of Kolkata’s most expansive and decentralised cultural experiences, durgapujakolkata.in aims to make the city easier to explore while bringing its many Pujas together in one digital space.
The ambition is simple: before stepping out for Pujo, visit durgapujakolkata.in. Find your pandals, plan your route, discover what’s happening and explore Kolkata one Puja at a time.
