Against the backdrop of the newly released ACFE 2026 Report to the Nations—which reveals that organizations worldwide lose an estimated 5% of their annual revenue to occupational fraud—the ACFE India Chapter today convened FraudCon 2026. The flagship conference brought together over 200 C-suite executives, forensic partners from top professional services firms, regulators, and risk leaders to shape India Inc.’s response to complex financial crime.
With Southern Asia facing a median loss of US$100,000 per fraud case and 67% of cases involving corruption, the ACFE India Chapter emphasized the urgent need for corporate enterprises and consulting firms to build certified, technology-driven forensic and compliance frameworks.
Global Endorsement & Regulatory Imperative
The conference opened with a special video address from the President of the global Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), who commended the India Chapter’s pivotal role in advancing professional capability, ethical leadership, and global anti-fraud standards across the region.
Delivering a keynote address on capital market integrity, Nitin Gupta, Chairperson of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA), stated:
"Trust is the foundation of every capital market, sustained through transparency, accountability, and strong governance. As corporate ecosystems become increasingly complex, organizations must invest in robust internal controls, ethical leadership, and technology-enabled oversight. Forums such as FraudCon play an important role in fostering dialogue among regulators, industry, and professionals to collectively strengthen the integrity of India's corporate landscape."
Addressing Modern Risk: Technology, Cyber, and Whistleblower Integrity
The event featured insights from Dr. Praveen Tiwari (Former Director, FIU-India), Ganesh Thuraisingham (Head – Asia Pacific & Middle East Development, ACFE), and youth cyber advocate Sarthak Sidhant, who delivered an address on digital trust, AI-driven fraud, and technology vigilance.
Exhibitors showcased cutting-edge technologies spanning AI-driven data analytics, digital forensics, cyber risk intelligence, and automated whistleblowing platforms—tools critical for modern corporate risk mitigation.
Mukesh Arya, President, ACFE India Chapter, remarked:
"FraudCon has evolved into India's premier platform for corporate leaders and advisory firms to operationalize anti-fraud strategies. Protecting enterprise value requires moving beyond reactive investigations to proactive, cross-functional risk management."
Sumit Makhija, Conference Chair & Vice President, ACFE India Chapter, added:
"Modern fraud risks are sophisticated, tech-enabled, and cross-border. To safeguard corporate balance sheets, organizations must integrate advanced forensic technology, data analytics, and continuous professional training into their governance architecture."
Strengthening Institutional Capacity
Over the course of the conference, participants deliberated on artificial intelligence, cyber-enabled financial crime, regulatory expectations, forensic technology, whistleblower mechanisms, and digital investigations. The deliberations underscored the growing necessity for cross-sector collaboration between corporate boards, professional advisory practices, and regulatory authorities to safeguard organizational resilience and public trust.
The ACFE India Chapter expressed its sincere appreciation to Achromic Point for conceptualising and delivering FraudCon 2026, with special recognition to Aashish Verma for his vision and leadership in executing the premier industry platform.
